I'm all about earflap hats. They keep your ears warm when it's cold and they protect your ears from the wind.

I knit this hat using Loops & Threads Impeccable Yarn-Ombre in seaside on US 9 circular needles.
I find that one of the hardest things about making an earflap hat with an ombre yarn is finding a coordinating solid color that you can use to do the edging and, if you choose, braids and a pompom.

It took me a while, but I finally found a blue yarn that matched the darker blue in the hat. Using an I-9 crochet hook, I used a simple chain stitch to edge the hat with Red Heart's Soft Yarn in Mid Blue.
